Debating News
On Tuesday the 6th of June the Year 9 and 10 MISA Debating teams went up against St Patrick's College in the semi finals of the competition. Magdalene were fortunate to be able to host students and staff from St Pat's and complete the debates face to face.
All teams were given one hour to prepare for their debate with no technology to assist them.
Year 10 were the affirmative team in their debate arguing 'That we should increase immigration'. The students spoke so well and articulated their opinions and thoughts with such passion. In what has been an undefeated season so far, Year 10 were narrowly defeated by "half a point". Regardless, the students in this team were absolutely excellent and should be immensely proud of their efforts.
Year 9 were the negative team in their debate arguing 'That essential workers should not be allowed to strike'. The team did an outstanding job and their hard work and determination paid off as they won their semi-final debate and will now be progressing to the grand final against Macarthur Anglican School!
