MISA Girls Rugby League
This term, MISA held the first Rugby League competition for girls to participate in. Magdalene Catholic College was able to put together two wonderful teams of girls in Division 1 and 2.
Whilst a few of these talented students play Rugby League for local clubs, many of our players had not completed a single tackle before joining the team. Each week, they displayed incredible resilience and tenacity as they faced a variety of challenging games. Even more impressive was the kind and encouraging interactions between the students, who all supported each other, picked one another up, pushed themselves and others to play and be their best, cheering them on and giving words of advice when needed.
It is an absolute pleasure to be able to write that our Division 2 side was able to defeat St Benedict’s by just a single try in the Grand Final, making Magdalene Catholic College the first winners of this competition. St Benedict’s had been undefeated prior to this. Our Division 1 team was also very competitive, however, did not place this time.
I look forward to seeing the progression of Girls Rugby League and hopefully further success.
