Word Mania is an online competition which increases vocabulary and spelling skills. Students are challenged to create as many words as they can in 3 minutes from a set of letters, with points allocated for accuracy of spelling and word length. Students can compete alone or challenge each other to games to increase their scores in competition rounds and work towards winning prizes for the school.  

Word Mania supports students' knowledge of morphemes and phonemes, as well as improving word recognition and spelling skills (such as the use of plurals and suffixes). All students from Years 7-9 are registered through Literacy Planet and students have begun playing in the practice round. Encouraging your child to play supports the development of a variety of Literacy skills.
