Pastoral Update

In the recent College Assemblies this term I have spoken to the student body in reference to encouraging them to ‘win everyday’ and ‘starting the day on a positive note.’

The ‘win everyday’ philosophy focuses on working towards your goals in a positive manner each and everyday. I highlighted to students the importance of consistently working towards your goals which will not only see you move closer to achieving your goals. But also by doing something constructive towards your goal and through every small win, you will find motivation and a sense of pride and accomplishment. This will help build strong habits in our students and help develop our students.

I further spoke to students about the value of not only starting your day on a positive note but also the importance of starting each lesson on a positive note. This increases student motivation, confidence and engagement in the lesson and not only supports a positive learning environment for the individual student, but for others in the classroom setting. The example I provided to students was that if they arrive late, or they forget your belongings this impacts the lesson greatly and impacts learning opportunities for yourself and others. We need to ensure we are all being responsible and respectful in our lessons to ensure we all can work to our personal best.

As we move to Term 3 we move our focus towards Leadership. In Term 3 we will be working through the process of determining our Student Representative Council for 2024-25, including new Year 12 leaders. This is a very exciting opportunity for students and we encourage all students to apply and be involved in this process. If any students have any questions about the process I would encourage them to speak to me or their Year Coordinators.

Lastly, I would just like to remind the College Community of our upcoming Magdalene Feast Day. This year, we will be celebrating the Feast of Mary Magdalene over two days, Thursday 25 and Friday 26 July. Our Feast Day Mass on Thursday 25 July at 9.30am.  Parents and Carers are invited to attend the Mass and celebrate the Eucharist with the College in honour of our Patron Saint Mary Magdalene, followed by a light morning tea. Please RSVP if you intend to attend, more information can be found on the communication via compass. The Magdalene Feast Day Fair will then follow on Friday 26 July, starting at 11.10am. Students will have the opportunity to facilitate and participate in Fair Activities in the spirit of community building. The Feast Day Fair will include rides, games and food stalls, followed by a College gathering in the hall at the end of the day.

Parent and student volunteer nomination forms have also been sent to the College community via compass and we encourage as many people as possible to engage with the College event.

As customary, the currency for the Magdalene Feast Day Fair will be Magdalene Dollars and they can be pre - purchased on the COMPASS Portal. Purchases include  $5, $10, or $20 Magdalene Dollar Cards and Unlimited Rides Wristbands for $25. Students will also have the opportunity to purchase Magdalene Dollars and wristbands on the day of the Fair.  All money raised goes directly to the Magdalene Care Fund, used to support our families in need.

Please contact the College if you have any questions.
