From the Hospitality Kitchens!
Term 1 has seen our year 11 Hospitality students gain an understanding in an industrial kitchen and develop their culinary skills, whilst year 12 have seen a focus on refinement and meeting industry standards such as time constraints and catering for a variety of needs.
Year 11 students have been primarily focused on practicing and perfecting the basics; precision cutting, methods of cookery and have stepped up to the plate (pun intended) with their fantastically presented dishes. Chicken Tacos with Pico De Gallo, White chocolate raspberry scones and eggs benedict with perfectly poached eggs (pictured) are just some of dishes we've been working on, with the pictures too good not to share.
Year 12 have been broadening their culinary experiences and attempting difficult dishes that extend their skill sets and understanding of the industry. In preparation for industry experiences, students have been completing simulated service periods, which say students take on leadership roles in the kitchen, catering to customer needs and time frames and working collaboratively to present quality dishes.
