Supporting Your Child’s HSC Success: Understanding ATAR Trajectories and Goal- Setting Conversations
As part of our ongoing support for students aiming for an ATAR, we are offering short, individual meetings to those Year 12 students who have already shared their ATAR goals with us in the past fortnight. These conversations will focus on each student’s academic progress to date and help them refine their efforts across all subjects as they work toward their post-school aspirations.
What is ATAR trajectory data?
ATAR trajectories are informed by state-wide trend data and provide a general estimate of the ATAR a student might be tracking toward, based on their midpoint progress and current results across subjects. While this data is not a guarantee or exact prediction, it can be a powerful tool for students to reflect on their progress, understand how each subject contributes to their final result, and identify practical ways to improve.
These voluntary meetings are aimed at students who are actively working toward an ATAR and want to better understand the link between effort, performance, and outcomes. The focus will be positive and supportive, guiding students to set achievable, subject-specific goals for the remainder of the HSC.
We encourage all parents and carers to speak with their sons and daughters about this opportunity. If your child is interested in reviewing their progress and exploring personalised strategies for improvement, they are welcome to contact Mr Houghton to arrange a time.
Together, we can ensure that students are informed, confident, and equipped to make the most of the months ahead.
