St Mary Mackillop of the Cross
St Mary Mackillop’s Feast day is August 8. Mary was truly a remarkable woman of great compassion and faith, with a love for the poor and needy, a heart for education, especially for those less fortunate, and a courageous love that would not back down from a fight, even when she was excommunicated from the Catholic Church for a time.
Feast Day Mass:
Last week we celebrated our Feast Day Mass in honour of Mary Magdalene, our patron saint. We are blessed to have Mary Magdalene, a woman who actually listened to Jesus, followed him, provided for him, stood at the foot of his cross, kept vigil at the tomb when he was buried, went to the tomb on Easter Sunday, and was the first witness to the resurrection and the first person ever to utter the words: “He is risen”.
Her loyalty, love and generosity are incredibly inspiring to all of us in the Magdalene Catholic College Community.
Prayer:
Lord, we pray that we may be inspired by the faith and life of St Mary Mackillop of the Cross and St Mary Magdalene, and that their love, courage and compassion for those in need may inspire our own lives as we walk this earth.
