On Friday the 23rd of August, Year 7 was privileged with a fun day full of maths activities. The day was divided into 3 sessions of fun and entertaining activities that included a STEM construction problem, a trivia quiz and problem-solving puzzles and an inquisitive minds challenge.

The STEM construction problem was a challenging activity because the task was to build a tall structure from spaghetti sticks and make a marshmallow balance on it without falling. I enjoyed the activity because it made all the group members think about how to structure the tower to prevent it from collapsing. I also made a new friend.

The trivia quiz was a series of Maths questions on a slide show that we needed to solve within the time that it was presented. I enjoyed this activity because it allowed my partner and me to use our brain to implement quick-thinking skills. The problem-solving puzzles was an activity were we formed groups and together, we selected a board with 1, 2, or 3-star questions and attempted to successfully complete them. 

The inquisitive minds challenge was my absolute favourite activity throughout our maths day. It was full of action, friendly competition and effort. My partner and I worked well together and won some prizes of chocolate too! 

Overall, I am very thankful for the maths day that the maths staff coordinated! It was an enjoyable experience and now we can use some new skills that we learnt in future learning.
