Bishop Brian’s Visit to Magdalene Catholic College
Last week, on Wednesday 29th July, the Year 12 2020 Leadership Team were privileged to meet Bishop Brian Mascord, in place of a usual, much larger-scale cross-school event that would have normally taken place. Firstly, we prayed together and then upon Bishop Brian's request, shared a valued part of our lives that we are personally thankful for. This collective thanksgiving was in accordance with Bishop Brian's key motto, 'In all things, give thanks'. We were grateful to hear the wise and insightful views that Bishop Brian offered regarding the recent hardships associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. He provided valuable advice and calming reassurance for all young Catholics within the Wollongong Diocese, that we are loved and supported through these trying times. The Year 12 Leadership Team were granted the opportunity to ask Bishop Brian our own questions, some of which involving queries regarding our own personal faith, and questions regarding Bishop Brian's experience in the priesthood and as a student himself. Following this, we shared morning tea in the College Learning Resource Centre and got to speak personally with Bishop Brian and the Director of Schools, Mr Peter Hill.
Speaking on behalf of the Year 12 2020 Leadership Team, we are very thankful for this unique experience of meeting Bishop Brian Mascord and the Director of Schools, Peter Hill, and we are especially thankful for the guidance and reassurance provided regarding the HSC and our religious faith going forward in our lives.
