The start to Term three has been incredibly productive and presented many unique challenges for our HSIE students.
As a part of the Year 7 History course, we have been examining the change from the Ancient world to the Modern world. This included a study of the renaissance, enlightenment and the scientific revolution during which we learn that before the 16th century most people believed the earth was the centre of the universe. In class, we have been producing models of a heliocentric solar system (the sun in the middle of the universe).
Our Year 11 Ancient History class spent week 2 investigating evidence concerning the family tree of the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun. We are still unsure about some of the relationships during this post Amarna period, and creating our own explanations for the family tree was a challenge, however, we are sure that he married Akhensenamun who was also his half sister and step mother!
A huge congratulations to our HSC Society and Culture class and Miss Gray who have finished their Personal Interest Projects. Topics ranged from toxic masculinity, discrepancies for indigenous communities to mental health in our current society. The quality of the final projects are testament to the perseverance and dedication each of these students has put in throughout the course.
