The Launch of Legacy Week took place on Monday 31 August at The Cenotaph in Martin Place, Sydney.  Legacy supports the families of veterans who have given their lives or health while serving their country and have done so for over 97 years.  A recipient of that support is Year 9 student Rhys Cassidy. 

On Monday Rhys represented Junior Legatees by reading The Ode at the Legacy service.  The service was attended by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC Governor of NSW and Patron of Sydney Legacy. Also present was Legatee Gregory Wrate, President of Sydney Legacy,  Major General Matt Pearse, AM, Commander Forces Command, Rear Admiral Jonathon Mead AO, Commander Australian Fleet and representatives of the Premier of NSW, the Leader of NSW Opposition and the Lord Mayor of Sydney.  Rhys had the chance to meet Her Excellency The Governor of NSW and enjoyed speaking with her.   The day was an enjoyable experience for Rhys and he looks forward to other opportunities given to him by Legacy.   This year Legacy will be fundraising online due to covid restrictions and it will help them continue their work with the families of veterans.
