Pastoral Care at Magdalene
Welcome back to Magdalene, in particular welcome to Year 7 Students and to all new students who are joining us for the first time. We have had a great start to the year, students and staff have come back relaxed and energised to learn.
The 2021 Pastoral Care Team is comprised of a dynamic group of Year Coordinators and Stage Assistant Year Coordinators who are all passionate about and embrace the Wellbeing for Life Pastoral Care Vision. Pastoral Care at Magdalene is founded on the values of dignity, equity, belonging and justice and it aims to provide a safe and supportive environment whereby students can develop quality relationships, share their faith, focus on their learning and experience a sense of community.
The Pastoral Care Team is comprised of:

This year the Pastoral Care focus is on improving student self-efficacy in support of learning growth. Often students who lack confidence in their learning abilities are afraid to fail and they don’t realise that the best learnings come from failures. Consequently, we are working towards changing the growth mindset of our students so that they learn the value of self-reflection and goal setting. Student wellbeing also plays an important part in the Pastoral Care Programs, as such Wednesdays in Pastoral Care Classes will have a wellbeing focus and the students will be able to “check in” and reflect on their own wellbeing.
Over the course of the next few weeks, we have a number of events that will be happening at Magdalene, in particular we have the
- Year 7 Notebook Boot camp on Monday and Tuesday 15-16 February
- Launch of Project Compassion on Shrove Tuesday, 16 February with the sale of Pancakes.
- Opening College Mass and Ash Wednesday on 17 February
- High Achievers Ceremony on Friday 19 February
