Medium - White Chalk Pastel on Black Paper
Year 11 Visual Art students are currently studying Still Life, Inanimate Objects. They are focusing on developing form and space in their sketches, integrating a variety of different tonal rendering techniques to create depth. These white chalk pastel drawings of animal skulls are reminiscent of the Vanitas art movement; a style of art depicting objects that are symbolic of the inevitability of death and the transience and vanity of earthly achievements, reminding the viewer of their mortality.
