Year 8-10 Boys Diocesan Soccer
I was fortunate to take a strong 8-10 Boys Diocesan team to the Diocesan Carnival on 19/3/21.
The boys performed well throughout the pool stage but unfortunately did not put away enough chances in the pool stage. This saw us finish 3rd in our pool and not in contention for the semi finals.
We had a really consistent defense who put in a strong performance, by Matt Ballentyne, Adrian Lane and Blake Demeary. These players worked really well together to minimise chances for the opposition. The performances of Jake Lasogga and Jai Cleary were also very strong throughout each game.
The students took on Mount Carmel in their game for 5th and 6th for the day. The boys put on a strong performance but still found themselves tied at the end of the game. This took the game immediately to penalties. Koby King stepped up with a clinical penalty. The boys followed suit and saw us come on top 3-1 with a strong presence from Charlie Athanassiou being too much for the Mount Carmel students.
Outstanding performances for the day saw Jack Zitignani and Charlie Athanassiou being named players of the team, with Jack Zitignani being named "player's player."
I would like to congratulate all students for their performance throughout the day. They represented the College with pride.
