Maths Week
How many digits of PI can you recite? I can hear you start with 3.1415...
Maybe you know 5 digits, maybe even 10.
Mr Koch, who organised the PI tournament, was surprised that three Year 9 and 10 students were vying for the top spot after accurately recalling 50 digits!!!
The champion was Kyna Kelly of Year 9, who took out top spot by recalling 98 digits accurately (she had recalled 114, but placed an incorrect digit in the 99th position). What an amazing effort!
Earlier in the week, Year 7's critical thinking, problem-solving, reasoning ability and communication skills were put to the test when pastoral classes battled it out in a Maths Trivia Quiz held in the CAPA space during lunch. The room was full of flashing lights and buzzers as each team went head to head. Congratulations to all the contestants...but 7H took it out! Thanks also to the Year 12 students who helped out in the running of the event.
And finally, on Friday the senior students were challenged with a head-to-head Numbers battle against teachers. Zach Gunner was declared the winner.
