Bill Turner Trophy School Football Competition
This year was the first time the College had participated in the competition. This area is always up against it as Westfields Sports High School, who have won the competition or been in the final for most of the last twenty years are in our zone. This year the team played four matches and reached the last four in our area which was a fantastic achievement.
The team played the following matches:
Round 1 Magdalene 4 d East Hillls Girls 1
Round 2 Magdalene 5 d Holdsworthy High School 0
Round 3 Magdalene 1 d Thomas Hassell Anglican College 0
Round 4 Bossley Park High School 3 d Magdalene 2
Our last game was against Bossley Park who have a dedicated football program, highly qualified coaches and for whom most of their students compete at the NPL level for their clubs. We managed to disrupt their approach to the game with very positive running, tackling and passing. The real standout throughout the match was Laura Rixon and her competitive approach to the game as she dominated the Bossley Park midfield and made it very hard for them to play their game. Jayla Li On Wing scored first for us and unfortunately we conceded a goal just before half time.
With the scores at 1-1 Jayla again scored and with 5 minutes to go Bossley Park leveled. With the last kick of the game they managed to score the winning goal. All the girls were exceptional, especially our goalkeeper, Rhiannon Koch who made many fantastic saves. While very disappointing there were some real positives to come out of our participation in the competition, which included:
Our approach to the game:
The girls always played fairly and positively. They always accepted the referee's decision and were gracious in their wins and losses.
The Squad
Injuries and illnesses meant that over the course of the four games we used over 20 players. This bodes well for next season but also says something very positive about the girls and their desire to play for the College. Everytime I asked a player to step in they gave their all for the team and the College.

These are only suggestions and some students may already have activities they are using.
Students are provided with guidelines for Tuesday Afternoon Sport via the Sport 2021 Google Classroom Page (code - jm6go7r), including the link to the website. With the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games being held, students are encouraged to access the website and complete the Olympic Quiz to score points for their house.
