The girls 7-9 Hockey team contested the MISA East zone final on Tuesday. Up against the competitions outstanding team, St Benedicts, the girls put up an amazing fight and had the red hot favourites stunned with an early goal. A brilliant through ball to Zoe Hollingsworth saw her put personal safety aside as she tumbled gracefully and found the back of the net.

Our defense took over and held the St Benedicts team scoreless for the next 20 minutes, thanks to brilliant work by Alex Cullen and our outstanding Goalie, Tiara Dykes.

Alas, unrelenting pressure eventually resulted in a goal to the Bennies outstanding state representative forward.

A tie looked imminent until the same Benedicts player managed to find a gap and seal the win in the last minute of the game.

Whilst the girls were disappointed to lose the final in the last minute, they can take pride in their efforts and how they had improved as a team as the competition progressed. Laura Rixon never gave up and put in 110% every game despite being a "soccer girl" at heart, Abbie Hamilton was consistently one of our best players, and Kaitlin Kyle is a future Magdalene Hockey star.
