Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award
Earlier in the year, Eva Hocking (7M) participated in the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award. Since its inception in 1995, the competition has provided an opportunity for NSW junior secondary students to improve their confidence and to develop their speech-writing and public speaking skills. Participants must prepare a 5 minute speech on a topic of their choice that is based on Legacy’s values of voluntary service, social justice, caring, personal effort, personal sacrifice and mateship. Additionally, participants prepare a 2 minute impromptu speech based on a topic chosen by the adjudicator. They have just 5 minutes to prepare this.
I am pleased to announce that Eva has progressed to the regional finals to be held Tuesday 9 November. Her speech on women was well received by the judges, and is attached for your viewing. We wish Eva all the best in the next stage of the competition!
