Literacy Matters
Wide Reading is an invaluable way to gather a broad general knowledge about current issues, as well as enhancing enjoyment of recreational reading. Sustained Silent Reading for 30 minutes daily is expected of students in Years 9 & 10, as prescribed by the National Literacy Progressions Continuum.
‘Sora’ is a digital platform where our students can access free reading material across a wide range of texts for Secondary age groups, it is free through our library link below:
Writing
Sometimes the best and simplest solution to challenges with writing is addressed by daily practice. Through regular writing, for example, by setting a ‘21 Day Challenge’ to write for 2 minutes a day, or simply writing for enjoyment, improvement occurs. Another way of advancing your writing is by entering writing competitions such as the Diocesan endorsed “Young Voices Award 2022”. Its theme is ‘Media is Good’.
