Welcome back to Term 3!
Monday 22 July was the Feast of Mary Magdalene, our Patron Saint and yesterday we were fortunate to have Bishop Brian Mascord and Father Michael Williams celebrate the Eucharist with our College Community. Bishop Brian gave a compelling holily about Mary Magdalene and her transformative journey from her first encounter with Jesus to being the first witness to His resurrection. He asked the students to be open to the possibility of having a relationship with Christ as Mary did.
In the Gospel reading we were reminded of the qualities of Mary Magdalene. She is a woman of courage, loyalty, resilience, determination, faith and above all service. It is from these qualities that our College Core Values are based upon. Our Core Values of Discipleship and Service, Quality Relationships, Love of Learning and Personal Best all align with Mary Magdalene, the Apostle of Apostles. These values live within our community, our Magdalene Family, and I am in the privileged position of witnessing these values in action everyday. They are evident in our academic, social, performing arts and sporting realms and are the driving force behind making our College a great place to be.
Today we brought the spirit of Mary Magdalene to life at the Feast Day Fair. It was a joyful day, whereby the students shared their gifts and talents and laughed together. Most importantly they gave back to the community, as every dollar raised goes back into the community to help those in need.
Feast Day Celebrations don’t just happen, and I would like to publicly acknowledge the work of Mr O’Neill, Mr Sligar, for the organisation of the Mass and Mrs Curtis and Ms Slender for working with our amazing year 12 Musicians; Joseph Pfiekke, Alexander Cooper- Crawley, Ethan Williams, Liam Donnelly, Myah Donahue, Emlia Leopardi, Chelsea Clapson and Chloe Rice. Thank you to Ms Corbett, Mrs Hassan and Mrs Weatherburn for organising the morning tea for our parents and guests. I would also like to thank Mr Bubb and the Year Coordinators for their organisation of the Feast Day Fair and to the office staff for their administrative support.
Over the last few weeks Year 12 have been preparing for the Trial HSC which begins on August 5. Year 12 Teachers volunteered their time in the holidays to run Study Workshops and it was great to see that many of the students took up this opportunity in preparation for their examinations. We wish the students well during their Trial HSC Examinations and implore them to remain focussed and seek advice from their Class Teachers. The students have received information regarding the Trial HSC Timetable and College Procedures, the information can be found using this LINK. Please revise this information with your children in preparation for their examinations.
This term we welcome back Mrs Booth, Mrs Dawson and Mrs Phillips from their extended leave. We also welcome Ms Haylie Abela to the Creative Arts Department, she will be working with Mrs Ashlee Marino in Drama. Mr Cloran is currently on leave and we wish him a speedy recovery.
Wishing you all the best for the coming weeks.

Assessment Schedules
The Mathematics Resource Centre (available through Compass, on the star dropdown menu) provides Assessment Schedules for all Mathematics courses. While students will receive Assessment Notifications for formal Assessment Tasks via Google Classroom, reviewing the Assessment Schedule in advance can help students to begin preparing for their tasks earlier and allow them to have more time to identify areas where they may need additional study or practice.
Additionally, students are encouraged to utilise the range of resources available in the Mathematics Resource Centre to supplement their learning in the classroom and further enhance their understanding of mathematical concepts.
Over upcoming weeks in Mathematics, students will be studying:

This fortnight, we added another 18km to our cumulative total - this means that we've travelled from Bombah Point to Yagon (as the crow flies), and have achieved a cumulative total of 258km so far.
As we enter into the cooler months, it may be a good idea to have a spare pair of dry socks with you as well.
Join us every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7:55am for an 8:00am start at the top of the Back Oval steps for a 1km walk (course may change due to weather and other conditions). This is a great chance to get outside, get moving, chat with your friends, and add some kilometres to a cumulative total which will take us as far as we can go! Don't forget a hat, and a water bottle. See Mr Cimino for more details.
